We tried Chicago Pizza Kitchen last and and were impressed. It was a well cooked crust on top and bottom. The sauce was chunky with good flavour and the filling distribution was just right.

We had never had a Chicago Style Pizza before, with the exception of PC which doesn't count.

The owner was very friendly and even gave us a complementary garlic bread. The garlic bread looked like it was pizza dough braided with italian spices. It was incredibly fresh and chewy.

We definately had a great experience with CKP and will order from them again. Did I mention we were lucky enough that they delivered to us?

        I highly recommend CKP.

I hate to admit this, but when I get a craving for chicago style pizza I go to loblaws, buy their frozen version(http://www.presidentschoice.ca/FoodAn... , and then add a bit more cheese and top it all off with some fresh tomato sauce.

Does anyone know a place in toronto that makes real chicago style pizza - not just thick crust?

Chicago Style Pizza Shack in Hamilton

              Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple

In Toronto proper - make it yourself or go the President's Choice route...

We stopped in at Chicago Pizza Kitchen up in Maple tonight on the way back from a friend's cottage. Not in Toronto but probably the closest place to get excellent Chicago style pizza. It's a similar style as the famous Giordano's in Chicago - thick and crispy crust, toppings which would more appropraitely be called fillings, layered in cheese in the pie with a heafty layer of slightly browned red sauce on top. This was just as good as Giordano's if not better. The crust super crispy which I don't remember from other Chicago style I've had and was something that put it over the top. The meatballs we got in the pizza were really outstanding too. Also super friendly and helpful service.

I really wish we had something like this downtown or at least on the TTC line!

Maybe you have to sit down there to eat it but I didn't think the deep dish was anything special there. I probably just don't like deep dish pizza anyways. I tried the chicago beef and wasn't impressed with that either.

well i should note i've only been there once (what the hell else is in maple) and i live in brampton, so i don't ever get out there... maybe it's gone down hill since then.. i had high hopes for the chicago beef, especially because others said they tried it and liked it (then others didnt like it as well.. there was a long thread on it but it got deleted by mods)

i should give it a shot again soon...if only i can find another reason for going to maple to make it worthwhile, lol

We couldn't finish two slices and took them home. Felt like there was a brick in the container!

Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple was excellent. I have yet to eat to compare to the legendary Uno's, but it was a feast for me. I ate a whole "small" pizza and went to roll over afterwards. I have also bought the frozen PC pizza which is nowhere near the size in thickness of most Chicago Pizza's but what do you expect from a frozen pizza.

i will try to make my way down to Maple than. i tried the 'deep dish' from Dominos a couple of days ago. what crap. just extra thick crust. they say there was extra cheese but it didnt look like it.

Made the trip to Maple yesterday to check this place out, and was well glad that I did. Great deep dish pizza, very friendly owners...I'll definately be going back. One caution...don't go if you are in a rush, due to the "heft" of the pizza, it takes about 30 minutes after you order. I was rushing between one meeting and the next, so I won't make that mistake again, but well worth the wait if you are not super pressed for time!

i've had Uno's and it's nothing like it, before i tried CPK in maple, i wasn't aware there were two types of chicago pizza - one that's just deep dish "pan", and the other that's the type CPK makes!

Anyone care to do a comparison between the deep dish pizza at the Pizza Shack in Hamilton and Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple?
