New Haven Pizza

davisready Apr 29, 2009 09:13 AM

I will be heading to New Haven this weekend and am still trying to decide whether to go to Pape's or Sally's. I'm not sure if I will have time to do both, but I definitley know I want to try a clam pie. I heard Pepe's is the place to go for that? Does Sally's offer a clam pie? Thanks!

There have been numerous posts on this site for both places. Check it out.

      Both have clam pies.

However, with these circumstances, definitely go to Pepe's. It should offer you better service and a better white clam pie. ALso - I'd advise against throwing Mozzerella on it to get the full flavour.

Wow. Now that you put it in my head, I don't think I can get a clam pizza without bacon!

If you are after clam pie then Pepe's is your choice.

Picked up a large white clam pie yesteray from the Pepe's in Fairfield to share with my parents in NY. Haven't had one in about a year. It was as great as ever, and just as good as from original New Haven location. My father does not eat cheese at all, so we always have it without grated romano, or whatever they usually put on it., yet it's still quite salty--probably from the clams. Anyway, this is still my ultimate pizza.
