Sunnyvale Chaat House

Regrettably, I didn't find it all that great. The customers were mostly 20's indian techies (promising). They were all eating thalis. I ordered a sev puri and a chana masala and a paratha.

The sev puri was OK, but not as vibrant as I remember from Vik's. The chana masala was rather bland. The paratha was full of whole wheat goodness and tasty (there's signs about getting frozen parathas to go, they are justifiably proud of their paratha).

Menu is heavily slanted veg. Cost of a thali is about 7.50.

Inside it looks like a McDonalds. Clean, at least.

I will go again, but try the thali.

Recommended if you have exactly $8 and are vegitarian and are in that part of sunnyvale.

If you want chaat, I think Lovely Sweets a little further down El Camino is better than Chaat House. I've heard good things about Real Ice Cream's chaat, too.

Thanks for the report. I enjoy Chaat Paradise (haven't had Lovely Sweets) if in the area; otherwise, would rather drive across the bridge to Chat Patta Corner/Dana Bazaar. CP's thali was disappointing.

I agree about Chat Patta Corner. Their bhel puri and especially their pani puri makes me happy.

The pani puri there is extremely bad. The Dahi Batata Sev Poori, Dahi Papdi Chaat
are quite good. It appered to me the "for here" and to go quantitiies were quite different
["for here" >> "to go"] but it is possible I was mistaken.

At this point, I'm wondering that you sunnyvale hounds have been holding out on the chaat reports, with this much variety. More sampling is required!

I've had the thali at Chaat House. It was good, but for a vegetarian place I prefer the thali at Chaat Paradise. For vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, the thali at Taste Buds is very nice too.
