Special occasion lunch in Santa Fe

Two couples celebrating 15 & 20 year wedding anniversaries are heading to Santa Fe from Phoenix on Saturday. I've looked over recommendations for Santa Fe but haven't come u[ with the perfect place as yet. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Price? Cuisine? Is food more important than atmosphere? What have you looked at already?

    1. Price not an issue since it's a big occasion. Would like to stay with southwest cuisine since we're only there for a short visit. Since the weather is nice, outside seating sounds good. Have thought about the Anasazi but the reviews on other places receive some very mixed reviews on this board. TIA

Of the best restaurants, Coyote Cafe and Geronimo, Ristra too are all dinner only. Santacafe and The Compound are open for both lunch and dinner.

On any given day I like each one of the five mentioned. Given the occasion I'd probably lean toward Geronimo for dinner (lunch is served Friday, Saturday and Sunday only).

If it is a lunch you're after, The Compound would be my choice... for the lovely setting (they serve outdoors) and a Spring Pea Soup is likely on the menu.

As to the restaurant at The Inn of the Anasazi, I liked it a great deal when Martin Rios was the exec. chef. Rios now runs Geronimo and my personal opinion is that The Anasazi is not quite what it once was.

Thank you - I made a reservation at Compound and will report back.

      2. The Compound is probably hands down the best choice
