Two pre-theater restaurants

My parents are going to a ballet at the Met and a concert at the New York City Center in May and June. They'd like to have a pre-theater dinner at a mid-priced restaurant (i.e. not Le Bernadin) with good food and service. Any suggestions?

Around $100-130 for both of them and Italian, American and French would be nice. :-))

You don't indicate what that $100-130 budget covers in addition to food -- drinks? tax? tip? But in any case, here are my suggestions for two mid-priced restaurants:

Pre-ballet: Bar Boulud is directly across B'way from Lincoln Center. The charcuterie is some of the best anywhere, and the resto of the French bistro fare is not too shabby either.

Pre-City Center: Benoit is one block away, on 55th St., b/t 5th & 6th Avs. Very good French bistro cuisine.

Thanks so much! They both look perfect.
