Asbury Park - Stella and Langosta both have outside tables in the nice weather. Start at one, walk to the other . . . .

Rooneys in Long Branch is the chalk pick for dining with a direct view of the ocean. I've noticed that the food reports lately have been better. Testosterone martinis as well.

Good pick Tapas! As far as Rooney's, while the view is nice, I can't recommend it for more than a drink and some raw bar items. Good luck.

Agree with you about Rooney's, bgut. We've had very good shrimp cocktails there. But it's truly unfortunate that the cooked food is blech because the view is spectacular.

Still have to agree about the food at Rooney's. Seems that all the good new food in Long Branch cropping up lately is away from the water.

Also, figures that since we snagged a late res at Shipwreck Grille this Sat that it will likely be raining ;o(

For years I've followed the Monmouth County Seafood Corollary:

"The quality of seafood is inversely proportional to it's proximity to water."

The possible exception might be Doris & Eds.

I never felt the food at Doris and Ed's was anything to write home about, especially considering the very high prices.

Rooney's food is actually much better this year...especially teh shellfish items

and the lobster escargot may be the best meal/app ion teh shore...big chunks of lobster meat in a spinach and garlic sauce served in an escargot plate...very cool at $24

Wound up at Kleins in Belmar. I tried to change their minds about this place, but could not. All in all it was not a Total disappointment. Reservation was for 7. Finally were seated at 7:40 even some of the tables were not occupied. Food I must say was good, better than the last time. Thank God for the scenery, as the service stunk. Resto not run very well. Had to find waiter to get items needed at table.

Don't you just hate having to go out to dinner with others when they choose a restaurant that you know will not be good? Disappointing to say the least.

Standard Benny style seafood. As I recall the first item listed on the menu is "Fisherman's Combo - broiled or fried"

There website menu seems to currently be blocked.
