Lakeside Diner on Long Ridge in Stamford. Best pancakes in town. You will have to ask for the real maple syrup since they keep it behind the counter. The eggs and bacon are yummy too. They also make fresh, homemade donuts that are delicious. Skip the water...sometimes it can taste a bit funky.

I do love this place but always forget about this place. The water is yucky and tastes like it comes right from the pretty pond, I will ask the next time for the real maple syrup because it makes such a big difference. Thanks

They don't have real maple syrup (at least not when I've ever asked), but honestly it doesn't matter. Trust me, the pancakes are totally worth it. Most everything else I've had there is average. But the waffles and pancakes are awesome.

and yes, don't get water there. Go for the juice or soda or milk or whatever

There is only two ways, that I know of, for any of us to know about a kitchen nbermas.
      1) Do you own due diligance and check with BOH records
      2) Ask the Chef for a tour-something I do.

And as for swine flu-you might as well just stay home if that worried about it. More likly to get it just about anywhere else you go in you day to day life than just from kitchen staff.

n-last year you said you were disgusted with lakeside. What changed?

Also, this thread from 2 months ago discusses pancakes in the area...

Jon1856: What is the BOH records? can you look online for all of this? Are you an attorney? I love to go to restaurants where you can watch them cook and see what is happening. I don't trust a lot of kitchens so I don't go, I do cook most meals at home but love the bakery goods out because haven't mastered baking yet! What are you favorite clean kitchens with great inexpensive food around FFD County? Have a great day.

The Board of Health/Dept of Health et al. For that matter even BBB. And yes, many places you can find info on line if you look for it.

Have you found scores for all of Fairfield County? All I've been able to find is local results for Norwalk and Newtown.

Stamford health scores will soon be on line. They are in the process of inspecting and scoring everyone now.
Lakeside is known for the great view and not being so clean. If you won't drink the water, why would you eat the food that they cook with it?
For great pancakes, real maple syrup and an open kitchen try Margot's in Bull's Head.

You haven't tried their pancakes, have you? Trust me... they are great. :)
