I've only ever seen them in the middle of summer when it's growing season in Quebec. I'd imagine they'd be too delicate to be shipped in, but maybe someone else knows otherwise. In summer they have them at the Birri stand at the Jean-Talon market.

Yeah, I kinda figured it might be a lost cause so early in the season. Might check if Louie at JTM imports them as he sometimes has off-season goodies. Am in the process of planning a zucchini-themed dinner and thought this would be a nice twist for an app... maybe a carpaccio of sorts if the flower mission fails.

A zucchini-themed dinner - cool, though I imagined those were only held in the peak of summer when everyone with a garden is going into zucchini overload and needs to find new uses for them. ;-)

What about zucchini fritters?

I know, an odd time for such a theme. But it was a special request, complete with iron-chef secret-ingredient dramatic reveal. I was actually thinking fritters, maybe with some interesting spicing; coriander, fennel, cumin?

Will there be chocolate zucchini cake?

For the flowers, good luck since I've never seen them off season either. But calling a few high end grocers to check wouldn't hurt.

I think there may very well be chocolate zucchini cupcakes :) Also might tempt fate and try a sorbet/granita palate-cleanser.
