Got tickets to a show at Mountain Winery. They have a restaurant there, with a $55 3-course meal. Menu looks okay. Anyone had the food?

If not, any suggestions close by? We'll be driving down from Oakland.

thanks.

It has been awhile but the food at the Mt. Winery was just OK ~ in Saratoga there are a few restraurants : Bella Saratoga (nice little patio), La Fondue (pricey) Mouton Noir, Sent Sovi. You will drive through Saratoga on Big Basin Way to get to the winery so you won't miss them. I would make a reservation as these restaurants are booked up when there is a concert at the winery,

Food is just ok, perhaps slightly better than a catered wedding at the Holiday Inn. It's all about the view though, the view is worth at least $30.

Been a while but we always enjoyed our meals at The Basin in town. More recently in Feb., a friend of mine treated me to lunch at Ristorante Da Mario. Really enjoyed the bread/olive oil & entree of mushroom ravioli. Friendly owner, servers - nice addition to downtown Saratoga.

Here is a very strong response: don't do it. My wife and I went to see Fiona Apple few years back, with the three-course meal. Food was unacceptably bad- steak was tough, risotto was a starchy mush. They did not do anything acceptable. You are better off eating at the cafe or bringing your own wine & cheese.

Hmm, it wasn't so bad the one time we tried it. The biggest problems we had were all the bees on the patio. The price is high for the quality, granted, but you're paying for the convenience, the atmosphere, and the view.

They also have a new buffet option this year that we will be trying out.
