Jacques Pepin Fast Food TV shows and kale chips

Whoever originally posted this link, thank you again. I've been loving his Fast Food My Way, second edition, videos. In the episode I just viewed, he did kale, tossed with oil, S&P, baked on a rack in a 225 oven for 20-25 minutes = kale crispy chips. This is exactly what I needed to recommend to my friend with her CSA basket full of kale last fall who wasn't keen on my sausage soup idea. I've done tomatoes like this, heard about kale, but now am totally inspired to find a late season bunch to try this out in anticipation of the fall crop.

Wonder if anyone has tried the kale crispy chips? I was intrigued too. I swear I could watch that man butter toast.

I haven't made kale chips at home, but there's a local company that makes prepared raw foods items, and they have crispy kale chips that I guess they make with dehydrators, and they are addictively delicious. They actually have flavors, like ranch and curry, that kind of mimick flavored chips. I'd like to try making some at home sometime.

It looked dead easy. And the resulting pile of crispy kale had enough crunch you could hear it on TV. His caution was about not using too much oil though. Just a scant dash, with salt, and low and slow with the kale. Presto!

Hi Caitlin -- I made the kale crisps at home last night. Posted on the Home Cooking board. It's a great way to get more kale.

Cool! I look forward to reading about it on HC.

Thanks for reposting the link! I just got really excited about watching his show again. I got rid of my cable, and I don't think it even plays on my local channels anymore.
