Any recent reports??
I have not been there since last year and I was wondering what to expect.
Well, I was only there within its first 3-9 months of opening(I forget).
I thought it was good, excellent seems excessive given I don't see how or why it would have improved THAT much.
Of course, they charged the most for sparkling water of ANY restaurant in Manhattan(yes, more than Per Se)and that was reason enough to never return.
Not great enough or value enough or anything enough such that this grand offense can be overlooked.
Anyway, don't really know why I am even posting this other than that Mas is not spoken of nearly as much as I would think. Plus I think I wanted to vent about that bottle of sparkling.
Now I probably have alienated Lau which is very stupid since you are probably the most even keel, reasonable overall poster on this board.
I should have asked if you ate Thai out in Queens or just various Chinese before I went on my rant. Get info first, then burn the bridge. Oh well.
Again, for the title poster, my experience was before yours and the food was good to be short.
haha thanks for the compliment...its okay, you're perfectly entitled to have your own opinion on a restaurant, doesnt bother me since everyone's taste is different and is a totally subjective topic anyhow
when it comes to sort of high end new american restaurants, i generally like places that keep it relatively simple and use good fresh ingredients preferably local...Mas fits that bill and i do think the food is quite good albeit it is an expensive restaurant...i think price bothers me less than alot of pepole if the food is good, but it really bothers my when the food is not good...also i dont think ive ever gotten anything besides tap water at a restaurant, agree with Pan that expensive water is a huge rip off
