i like highland kitchen quite a bit, though they get crowded. sort of hipster-southern-nouveau, i guess, but the food's actually very good.

Neighborhood Restaurant & Bakery in Union Square is excellent. I've never seen a complimentary appetizer served before breakfast anywhere else - get the baked apple! Great standard breakfast foods, but also some Portuguese specialties. Enjoy!

Neighborhood is extremely greasy. Yes they have gigantic portions and they have stale coffee and last night's cake outside while you wait in the cold for 1 hr for your table, but their food is not good!

Second for Neighborhood Bakery - awesome, cheap, huge menu, you get your money's worth there and leave absolutely stuffed. When the weather is nice, the outside patio is open where you can sit under the grapevines in the shade. I spend many Hangover Sundays there! I also love the fact that they play old Kasey Kasem Top 40 countdowns from the 80s. Good times. ;)

Also, East Coast Grill does a fantastic Latin-tinged brunch on Sundays. There's always a little bit of a wait to get a table, not sure if they take reservations.

Jazz brunch at Ryles on Sundays is fun every once in a while. It can get loud, but it's the only time you can go to Ryles and hear jazz without paying a cover.

Kebab Factory has Indian Brunch Buffet on Sat. & Sun., in case you want to mix it up.

Bloc 11 Cafe is a couple doors down from Neighborhood Bakery. It's a coffeehouse/sandwich type of place. Nice and relaxing spot.

There are others places, of course, but these are the places I go back to again and again. Bon appetit!

I live b/w Harvard & Porter and LOVE breakfast. My hands down favorite place is right over the Cambridge line in Watertown - Deluxe Diner. I love love love their sweet potato pancakes. They also have a really extensive tea list, which is strange for a diner - but fun.

I've been to Neighborhood a few years ago and although I wanted to love it (free breakfast appetizers, who doesn't like that), I just wasn't impressed with the food. But maybe it's changed since then.

Ryles for Sunday jazz brunch is also fun and the food is pretty yummy. Not the biggest menu but all the standards.
