[MSP] Going to Cafe Levain Sunday--Recommendations?

Some friends and I will be trying Cafe Levain this Sunday night--any recommended dishes to try from those who have been fairly recently?

Also, their website mentions that you can order from the a la carte menu on Sunday nights, but I noticed a post here about a month ago from someone who went on a Sunday and was not given that option. Does anyone know if that was a one-time thing or fairly common?

Thanks!

They have Sunday Supper every week, but they don't know what they are serving until Sunday morning/afternoon.

I went with my DH a few weeks ago when we had a free babysitter. My husband had the short ribs and I had the mussels and homemade pasta and both were good. We started with the potato soup and I had a beet salad that doesn't appear to be on the new menu anymore.

We definitely decided to go back, mostly b/c its in our 'hood, but we liked the atmosphere.

Oh yeah-the beer and wine list were good too.

It might have been me that you read previously.

We were told that there was a steak option and a fish option ala carte, but we were more or less suggested not to order them. That was fine, since the Sunday night menu should be pretty solid.

My only concern with there not being an alternative to the Sunday Supper menu is that my husband is allergic to shellfish (come to think of it, one of the friends we're going with is allergic to seafood in general) so if they include it in the Sunday menu he'll need a different option. Is that something they'll make adjustments for if you contact them ahead?

There is a veg and non-veg option for Sunday Suppers. The veg version obv. won't have shellfish in it so that would be a good option!

Even if he doesn't want the veg option, if you contact them ahead with a food allergy, Chef will make something delicious.

Disclosure: I am the Chef at Cafe Levain.

If you make it aware to your server, we will be more than happy to omit any shellfish on the menu for Sunday Suppers and still make it delicious - as of right now there is no shellfish but that could change. Like Cheeseguysgirl said, we work on the menu throughout the day today.

I just wanted to drop back in and say that the dinner tonight was delicious! I especially loved the ramp soup--the combination of the pickled ramps with the ham was lovely; my only "complaint" is that I was so sad when it was gone :-) Is there any chance something along those lines will be showing up on the regular menu?
