Besides Pravda, Laide, Reservoir Lounge, Foundation Room and the various pubs nearby, are there any other places you'd suggest?

Which would be your first pick? Which would be the best bet if we want to be able to talk without raising our voices, around 10 pm on a Friday night?

Dunno if it's too far for you (or too stuffy) but I love the Library Bar at the Royal York. Good cocktails and definitely dark and quiet enough for tete-a-tete-ing. The Consort Bar at the King Eddie is not bad either, but not quite as charming as the Library.

Possibly the lounge/bar at the Rosewater Supper Club... but I haven't been in years so you might want to get another opinion on this one.

Thanks Rabbit...I've been to the Library Bar for lunch, but not at night. Is it fairly busy at night? What is the crowd like...similar to Avenue or a bit more mature/less flashy?

Rosewater sounds like another good possibility- that totally slipped my mind.

Hotel bar... I find you never quite know what you're going to get in terms of the crowd. It could be quiet and intimate, you could get a banquette or wedding party in tuxes and gowns or a convention of sales dweebs... I've seen all of the aforementioned.

Yes, the Consort is a nice bar. Haven't been there recently- should visit again soon.
