Need dog friendly outdoor dining in Maine

Going to Maine the first week of June with my dog. We are staying in the Portland area and I'm looking for places with outdoor seating that will accept well-behaved dogs.

I've read about the Portland Lobster Company but I'm looking for some more options. Also, I'd rather not eat all fried seafood, aka lobster shacks, the entire trip so any outdoor seating at restaurants of other cuisine types would be great.

Restaurants can be outside of Portland but prefer not more than 30 minute drive. Food doesn't have to be the best, obviously I'm limiting my options by bringing my dog with me. We're staying in a resort that does not allow him to be left in the room alone so wherever I go, he goes!

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, these are good suggestions. Tipatina, thanks for the dogfriendly link. I've seen that already but I was looking for some real-life experiences of dining with dogs.

We have eaten at American Flatbread pizza place. i thought the food was pretty good. They have a deck right on the water and I read they allow dogs.

The Porthole is dog-friendly and their outdoor seating is some of the best in town.

If you make it up to Brunswick (about a half hour north up 295) there are a number of food carts along the town green called The Mall. It runs along Maine Street. You can usually get anything form veggie wraps to cheeseburgers then pick a spot to "picnic". After you can take your friend for a walk at the Town Commons in Brunswick just down Rt 123 or try the Bike Path along the river off Water Street. Fat Boy is a popular place w/ the locals - it's an old style Drive-in that serves probably the best frappes in the area. It's on Bath Road across from the Navy base. Wild Oats in the Tontine Mall on Maine street has great food and outside seating.

Sorry that none of these recommendations are in Portland. I'm not so familiar as to know who would be accommodating. Portland is fairly dog-friendly in general so I think you should do ok. Portland Pie has amazing pizza - not sure of the seating situation but take-out would be encouraged. If you can't stand to take it back to the room then head to the Eastern Prom or Back Cove and "picnic" there. Oh, you could try O'Naturals. They are right downtown on Exchange Street I guess. If I remember right there is a place outside w/ tables.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with more suggestions. Good luck! :)
