non-alcohol beer recs?

Arcadiaseeker Apr 24, 2009 07:05 AM

I am pregnant and having to give up my wine and beer love for a few months. I have been drinking non-alcoholic Becks from time to time which I really like. But are there any other really good non-alcoholic beer brands anyone can recommend (note: 0 alcohol not near-beers)? I don't even bother with non-alcoholic wine (tried some in my first pregnancy and they all taste like bad grape juice!).

    I wish Toronto had O'Douls.

Don't know if T&T supermarket still caries it, but when my wife was pregnant, the only one that tasted like real beer was Yanjing from China. It's 0.5% de-alcoholized beer though. We agree that you can''t find anything good for wine though.

I really like the PC Red brand - I think it's 0% alcohol, but I'm not 100% sure. To me, it comes the closest to actual beer flavour. (Also a plus is that it's cheaper than other brands.) To be honest, I'm really not a fan of the Becks though, so your taste may differ from mine. There's also O'Dools (sp?) I'm not a huge fan of it though.
I know you're looking for 0%, but for others looking for low alcohol beer - Upper Canada's Point Nine is pretty great.
Hope you find one you like - and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Thanks I will try the PC -- I don't love the Becks so am definitely willing to try others!

I saw some Bitburger this morning at Brandt Meats in Mississauga--probably available elsewhere.

Bitburger "Driver" is one of the best NA beers I've ever tasted.

Thanks for the rec -- where can I buy it in Toronto?

Some might argue that it is worth the drive to Burlington to buy supplies at Denningers, including the Bitburger Driver.
