Where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

Looking for an after work place with good food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere. Something like El Rio Grande would be great, but just afraid it will be way too packed.

Where have you celebrated Cinco de Mayo in the past?

thanks!
Laura

I love El Rio Grande, but it is WAY too packed on Cinco de Mayo. Can't even get a drink at the bar.

The outdoor space at Mercadito Grove has usually been spacious enough for Cinco de Mayo for me in the past, and well worth the price in comparison to some of their scenier competitors.

I just made reservations for the Mercandito on Avenue B for Cinco de Mayo. Looking forward to it as it will be my first time there (even though I live nearby). Are there any can't miss dishes?

I've heard the fresh guac is great. Apparently they put plantains in it.

Waermelon-cucumber margaritas are heaven-sent. I've had limited forays into the tacos and guacamole which have blown my mind each time.

Both the guacamole and margaritas were fabulous last night. In fact everything we tasted was great! Aside from the noise level, which I imagine would be fine on a less crowded evening, it was perfect!

          Look in to:
          Los Dos Molino's
          La Palapa (both locations)
          Mercadito (both locations)
          Toloache
          Los Dados

Thanks for the rec on Toloache. A great choice for Cinquo de Mayo and the jalapeno / cucumber margaritas are a great choice any day of the year.
