Hilton Head Help! (Restaurant Suggestions)

I'm planning a trip to Hilton Head. My father-in-law is very much a "meat and potatoes" man. He despises "fru-fru" food. I'm looking for nice restaurants comparable to Morton's, Capt. Andertons (Panama City), Lawry's, The Palm, etc.

Basically, good food without stuff like garlic mashed potatoes, chipotle aioli anything, or anything too 'out there'.

Any suggestions? I could use some brownie points with this man!! LOL

I've lived on the island for twenty eight years and I want to nominate my current favorite: Riviera Oaks, on New Orleans Road (south end). Fifty seats, amazing interior, good food and drink. Not pretentious and there are simple dishes (steak, for instance).

Also, Crane's Steakhouse is across the street.

That said, take him to Frankie Bones - a solid steak and potatoes place w/ good atmosphere and frequented by locals. http://www.frankiebonesrestaurant.com/

p.s. "garlic mashed potatoes" is too out there? LOL
