This morning, someone asked on another thread - "what are you craving right now??"
For me - the answer is a zeppole!
I'd kill for a good one...hot, soft and with tons of sugar.

It used to be that pizzerias made them as an everyday menu item, but these days I only see zeppoles at the feast - or a street fair. Does anyone know of a place in NYC that makes 'em every day?

HA HA! I just saw your post on the side panel and knew why you were asking. I swear, this site is dangerous, isn't it? ;) Back to your question, I've had them at the same places you have--namely, at bakeries during the Feast of San Gennaro. Here's a list of participating bakeries and restaurants. One of them has to make zeppoles. Good luck on your quest! :)

LOL!!!
Yes! That is hilarious! As I posted this - I thought "I gotta stop looking at CH while I'm hungry!!"

Thanks so much for the link - I will have to check those spots out!!
If all else fails - I think a good hot Krsipy Kreme donut might just do the trick!

PS Katty - I did make an Easter Pie - and it bombed!
I don't know what happened but it was too heavy and gloopey....oh welll - I'll give it another go next year!

I'm afraid you might not have much luck finding zeppole as you like them via the attached list. They're not typically snacks sold at bakeries or pasticcerie, and I've not seen them on a regular basis anywhere but an old fashioned corner pizzeria--where they used to be ubiquitious--and at feste, of course. At least some of the pizzerie along the Bensonhurst strip of 18th avenue (60th-86th Streets) should have them, but not usually freshly made. Buona caccia.

Thanks Bob,

I moved out of Bensonhurst in 2001, and even back then the pizzeria's had pretty much stopped making them. :(
I think I gotta wait until July for the St. Ann's Feast in Hoboken - where I had the best I've had in YEARS last year.
I could just taste 'em now!!

I don't know if I'll get to Queens but thanks - I think I'm gonna have to settle for a Krispy Kreme for now!

In Carroll Gardens, Bklyn, The House of Pizza and Calzone on Union Street off Columbia, makes them only on Fridays and Saturdays. I haven't been there in over a year so I don't know if that's still the case. They used to sell them by the dozen or half-dozen. They were huge, but good. You'll never finish a whole order by yourself.
