Lunch near NYU Medical Center (33rd & 1st)?

My search turned up some good suggestions but they were several years old so I'd like some current recs. Cheap ($10 or less) and casual please, any cuisine will be fine. I will have been fasting but want to avoid the hospital cafeteria : ) TIA

    1. A great place thats on 33rd and 3rd ave is Ethos Restaurant which is Greek and is causally fun. The menu has a lot more variety than just souvlaki and would be a good place for lunch. It has a lot of small plate appetizer options as well as meals.

      1. The cheesesteaks at Carl's, on 3rd, b/t 34th & 35th Sts., are excellent. But it's mostly take-out as there is very little seating.

Edited to add: While I like Ethos, unless you want just one small meze plate, $10 will not get you much food there.

Or you can try the Grand Sichuan on 33rd and Lexington. My parents say they've had some bad as well as good experiences there, but except for the oyster cold dish which I had to send back (don't order that!), my experiences there have been only good ones. (To be fair, their bad experiences were more recent than my good experiences, however.

          1. Baoguette on Lex @ 25th for a very good banh mi. Mostly take-out, but they do have a counter.
