Where have you had the best short ribs?

I love short ribs! Who serves the best in town?

  1. 9 Park (request a single large piece, instead of 2 or 3 tasting portions which is not as good)

Scampo (when available, used to be Sundays)

        1. Oleana has some wonderful tamarind-glazed short ribs on their appetizer menu. I could make a meal of them (and have when I made the recipe at home - it's in Chef Sortun's Spice cookbook).

I'm in no means an expert since I've only eaten a few local places, but I'd stack the short ribs from Ten Tables up against any I've every had!

          2. They're so ubiquitous it's hard to pick one place; they're also disappearing as kitchens move to new spring menus.

The first ones that come to mind for me are that Grotto gnocchi, Union Bar & Grille's "bbq" short rib app, the grilled cheese with short ribs at (of all places) The Beehive, the short rib shumai at Ecco, grill-table galbi at New Jang Su, short rib arancini at Sage, and the port-braised short ribs at Pops. I also like the daube Niçoise at Gaslight; I think that might be short-rib based.
