San Mateo Delivery Options

Candice Apr 22, 2009 11:16 PM

Hi. I'm looking for a range of delivery options for friends who are about to become new parents and recently moved to San Mateo. They eat everything in general (ethnic, spicy, have had a csa box, etc), but am not sure how one's appetite is after giving birth. Any other take-out and food delivery ideas for the area would also be appreciated. Thanks.

Here is a link to the listing of restaurants in downtown San Mateo. It doesn't look very current as it still lists Chef Wai, which I believe has closed. Nevertheless, it's a good starting point. I know for sure Amici's delivers, and I think North Beach Pizza does as well.

There are tons of ethnic places, all of which will do take out. There must be 40 or 50 restaurants on 3rd, 4th and 2nd as well as cross streets. A search would give lots of info if they want to get reviews - Hotaru (japanese), Sushi Sam (more expensive) and Little Schezuen on 4th (which has the advantage of a free parking lot - really helpful before 6pm) are some of my favorites, but there are lots and lots of choices.
I would avoid Joy Restaurant (japanese not Joy Luck - chinese), though, since I had a bone in my sashimi!

Not aware of any delivery except maybe pizza -- but stay aware from Domino's - made the mistake of getting pizza there- not only did they get the order wrong but the ?cheese was some sort of white glop that didn't melt and tasted like wallpaper paste.

they have a san mateo office.

If you're doing this as a special treat, there's always the trick of ordering togo via credit card, then sending a prepaid cab to the restaurant. Should work for any restaurant.
