I'm going to be in Jacksonville for 5 days, and I am looking for recommendations on the best restaurants for seafood. Doesn't need to be fancy, just fresh and well prepared-thanks!

  1. The May issue of Coastal Living Magazine has a Seafood restaurant section for the country, with the top picks in coastal states. Singleton's Seafood Shack in Mayport was one of the three places chosen for all of Florida. It's nice to see a local place get some recognition. And they say there is nowhere to get good food in Jacksonville, ha!!!!
    Singleton's Seafood Shack
    4728 Ocean St.
    Mayport, FL

Also for a little bit of a fancier setting you can visit the Chart House.
    Chart House
    1501 River Place Blvd.
    Jacksonville, FL 32207

Another really good place is The Crabcake factory down in Jacksonville Beach. Really good food, good prices and casual atmosphere. And of course the crabcakes are the best in Jax.

    1. Forgot one, Pussers in Ponte Vedra beach, right outside of Sawgrass. The food is amazing, great atmosphere. I know its a crazy name, but it is well worth the visit.

Slider's in Neptune Beach is the best place to get a fresh piece of locally caught fish. Chart House and Pussers are both "chain" restaurants and over-priced. Check out North Beach Bistro or Ocean 60 in Atlantic Beach if you are looking for something a little more formal.

I'd stick with Slider's or The Fish Company in Atlantic Beach if you want to fresh and local seafood.

      2. Don't forget Checker Bar-b-q. http://www.artofcrackercooking.com/

My wife says Art Jennette makes the best fried shrimp in the universe. The portions are as gargantuan as depicted on the website. We need to starve ourselves for a week and then go to the Fri.-Sat. buffet.
