Italian foodstuffs in Oshawa

Hello,

Does anybody know of a grocery store in Oshawa, Ont., that sells authentic Italian foodstuffs? I'm looking for things like OO flour, semolina, semola, olive oils, dried pasta, etc

Marc

If you're ever passing thru Whitby, believe it or not, the IGA on Manning between Garden Ave and Anderson, has lots of Italian goods and brands. I think the owner(s) might be Italian. Lots of olive oils, pastas, sauces, etc. Not sure about semolina but worth checking out. Cute little supermarket with always fresh produce.

      Thank you tuttebene,

I live in Peterborough, so I was hoping there was something between Peterborough and Toronto. Thanks.

And... to my surprise, I found semolina, in Peterborough - at the Bulk Barn.

I did, however, find some really excellent fresh pasta last week. It's a little shop on Stevenson Road, west side, in a little plaza somewhere near Rossland Rd. I wish I could remember the name of it but it has initials in it'a name (like M & B or something like that). The pasta was really perfect and I'm sure it was made with good semolina flour. I was shocked, actually.

I know the place! It DOES have good pasta. It's just across from what used to be the tiny IGA supermarket south of McLaughlin High School.

        It's called M&G Pasta Works:

Pretty good premade frozen meals as well (for a frozen meal). The lasagna especially.

I live nearer to Peterborough, so usually get my fresh pasta at Pasta Plus - which has excellent stuff. But I knew I would be coming through Oshawa so googled up this M&G. I got the linguine and it was as good as - if not better than - my own homemade.

I'm sorry to say that what you're looking for doesn't exist. Your best bet is to go online if you can make it into the big city (Toronto).
