Where can I buy Sport Peppers in San Francisco?

Kristine Apr 22, 2009 08:11 AM

I've asked before, a long time ago (so long I wasn't able to find the post) but I still haven't been able to find them. I know there are several places to get them on your hot dog/sausage but I want a jar to bring home.

Have you tried some of the old school Italian American delis like Lucca and Molinari's in SF and Genova and Ratto's in Oakland?

I've tried Lucca Ravioli, Whole Foods, Rainbow, Andonico's and Mollie Stones.
I don't get to the East Bay much.

      Online they are available
      "The Chicago Style Condiment Pack
Everything you need to top a dog. Great for picnics, tailgating and grill-outs. Add fresh onion, tomatoes and a pickle spear for the total Chicago-style experience.
Includes: Bright Green Relish (12 oz. Jar), Sport Peppers (12 oz. Jar), Plochman's Yellow Mustard (10.5 oz. Jar) and Celery Salt (12 oz. Jar) "
      From vienna beef web store:

I've bought some, or at least a pretty close rendition, from Parkside Market, on Taraval at about 17th. They're good, but don't seem quite as hot as the ones they put on the dogs at Poochies.

I've never seen them at stores around here. I order online. They aren't so much of an Italian thing as a Chicago Italian thing, which is why you don't see them at Italian delis.

If Moishe's Pippic won't sell you a jar, you might ask where they get theirs.
