Westport update

Ok I went to Westport last weekend. Westprot is changing a little bit. they are actually getting some good places to eat. I found a few good places. I started off on the way in at the Estrelle Family creamery in Manasano for some cheese. WOW she is now making over 20 types of cheese and they are all good to me. I toured her cheese plant it is a family farm with caves that her husband made to cure the cheeses. I was able to sample most of the cheesse right in the caves while I was touring them. She has 4 differnt environments to cure the cheese. so it was all good.
In Westport.
Breakfast: The Fogcutter out by the lighthouse also excellent for breakfast and Lunch! They are not open for dinner. the food was great, decent portions and very clean place.
Lunch : The new place, The Mermaid Pub and Deli. Talk about some excellent subs they were large and full of fresh sliced meat not fillers like lettuce and tomatoe. it was in it, but the main part of the sandwich was meat. I didn't ask but it almost seemed like home made french bread. They also make thier own large brownies and cookies.
I was not impressed at all with Barb's by the sea. the sevice was slow and there was only 3 tables that had customers at them. the portions were small. and just a old westport experience. slow and medioker food.
The One Eyed crab was reservations only so I didn't go there, I looked in the door and it did not impress me. So I went to Bennetts in grayland it was excellent! But the menu is from $11-20 which is pretty normal but when they say " Our three specials tonight are" expect to pay 25-30 a plate. I had the rib steak covered in asparagus, crab and Holindase sauce. the Halibut covered in crab, shrimp, asparagus and cream sauce is also good that was the 2 speacials that night.
We went to the mutaineer in grayland also. It is kind of a plane jane but the food was good. I had the captians platter with a full assorment of seaffod and they were all good and seemed fresh.
The Islander had a stove blow up and blew the transformer so that and the half moon grill was out.
