El bulli in June - need help planning trip

Hi everyone. My husband and I have been so lucky to get reservations to El Bulli (on the first time trying) on June 17th 2009. It actually sort of coincides with our first anniversary so we are so excited!!!! Second day they are open, lets hope all the kinks are ironed out.

Anyhow I'm having a hard time finding a hotel that we can stay in (4 star) that is somewhere near the resto.

We were thikning of staying in Roses so that we could hit the beach for a day or two and be able ot have some local seafood too.

We will have a car but I just cna't seem to find any good places.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions I would be so happy.

Also any idea if there actually is a wine tasting menu we can do as accompaniment, Ive read so many conflicting stories about this.

Thanks in advance

  1. Yes, they offer a wine tasting (though its generousness is entirely incompatible with the dark curvy drive back...). Roses isn't a luxury resort--it's more of a family-oriented beach town--so most of the hotels are midrange. I haven't stayed there, but the Almadraba Park is supposed to be one of the nicer ones:

As far as I know, there aren't any luxury options near the restaurant (just a by the week sort of family resort, last I checked).

Thanks so much we will check that place out, I had seen it but it looked like it was kind of far from town.

When were you at El Bulli, where di dyou stay?
      Thanks so much

Hi--I stayed at Hotel Coral Platja. It was fine--nothing fancy--but right on the beach with balconies.

    2. There aren't many nice hotels around El Bulli. Almadraba Park is supposedly the nicest, but often has a 3 night minimum in high seasons. We are staying at the Hotel Port Salins which is fairly close by.

I have been to El Bulli twice and stayed at the Hotel Port Salins both times, in Empuriabrava. Its a really nice hotel, in a horrible tourist town dominated by Dutch and German holiday makers/campers. Full of cheap German bars and restaurants. However the hotel is an oasis among this, and it also has a very nice restaurant - most likely the best in the town (I am not brave enough to try anywhere else) We were told we could eat well in the hotel, and they were right.

Its about a 20 minute taxi ride to El Bulli - about 40euro fare.

it's a place we eat in exchange of money.

        2. I hope you enjoy your trip and I am sure you will!

Can any of you give me any tips on the reservation process at the bull? I have the book, A day at El Bulli, and my Dad and I are dying for a trip at any time!

Thanks, and sorry for the thread hijack, hope you find an adequate hotel.
