Free Coffee at McDonald's in Canada
I don't work in the industry, let alone for McDonald's, but since I despise Tim Hortons, anything that undermines their business I'm happy to spread the word about.
Not a joke, take a look:

No purchase necessary, just show up during breakfast hours and get a free small coffee. Promo goes for 2 weeks.

Higgin's & Burke is the Mother Parker's coffee company premium label. I haven't had a McD's coffee during the current promotion. However, I have tasted it recently and it is, indeed, a significant upgrade from the swill they sold in the past. It certainly isn't a "gourmet" blend with any special characteristics, but it is an acceptable cup of joe.
When I was in a rural area of the UK a few years back, the local McD's literally had the best coffee, and the only drinkable latte's, for miles around. Even the local fine dining places had inferior coffee. It isn't that good here - at least so far - but it's certainly improving.

Stopped in this morning, specifically to get a free coffee. Wasn't bad. IMO, better than Tim Horton's (which I won't drink). Was also not looking forward to actually going into a McDonald's, but I was pleasantly surprised about that as well.

You may all be surprised, but McDonald's won a taste test. Beating out the big guys, Starbucks, Tim Hortons and Second Cup. Most people said that it was the temperature of the coffee that made them select McDonald's.

The few times's I've tried a McCoffee, it wasn't worth the price of the cup they served it in. Is it the same swill they served 5 or 10 years ago?

re: foodyDudey
Read the article and the comments below it, apparently 1-McDonald's changed to Mother Parkers (I had originally thought they went to Higgins and Burke?) 2 years ago 2-Tim Hortons either changed the formula or watered it down in the same timeframe.
So to answer your question, no, it isn't the same stuff as 5 years ago. Not that I've had it at all\ (5 years ago or today)

Not at all Dudey. I discovered it in the South recently and was surprised. They have a decent product now, not like a freshly roasted and ground item, but the price is right. The local product tastes even better, probably our superior water quality. However, I take my coffee straight up so I'm not sure how it is double-double.
