Spur Seattle - Follow Up


Went and did Spur again, this time for dinner as Happy Hour doesn't run on Friday nights. As reported before the food was incredible, highlighted by the succulent Pork Belly Sliders. Also as a variation from last time, instead of the Georgetown 9# Porter, I tried one of their inventive cocktails, the Pear Rum Swizzle, which is a tasty concoction of bosc pear rum. falernum. lime. chartreuse.

I think the one heads up I would give people is despite the word Pub in the subtitle of Spur, Gastropub, the experience isn't cheap. Now, I am not complaining at all, since I think food this good is worth the price, but I could see how someone would go there, see the small portions and be surprised by the bill. I guess stated another way is that Spur is more Gastro then Pub, which is probably why I like it so much.

  1. I would have to agree with you on all counts, Billy Bob. I enjoyed the food (though I found them a bit heavy-handed with the salt) and creative cocktails at Spur, but I was a bit surprised when the bill came. This was likely due to my group enjoying the cocktails a little too much and thus working up the bill fairly high on drinks, however, I also found the food items to be at a high price point for an atmosphere that felt very much like a lounge.

    I don't know that I will be going back except at happy hour primarily due to the price vs. atmosphere they've created.

    1. I'm going back again tonight. I'll have to try the Pear Rum Swizzle - it sound great!
