I like Maykadeh better than Alborz. Haven't tried Lavash.

No Armenian around here so far as I know except at church festivals. I believe St. Vartan's is the first week in October, St. John's is 2-3 weeks later.

Royal Market is an Armenian grocer, deli and bakery. It will grill your kabobs (luleh, etc.) to order, but it's to-go. That's the only Armenian food business I know of in the City. In the North Bay, you'll want to check out Aram's in Petaluma.

Thanks for the tip. What a great place! I got a bread stuffed with spiced lamb for $2, a bigger one stuffed with spinach for $2.50, some great sauerkraut for $2, and fabulous pickled mushrooms for $4.50, great cheap dinner for two.
Convenient that it's just a few blocks from First Korean, where I go regularly to stock up on kimchi.

The place continues to surprise me each time I go in there, e.g., whole roast pig. I've yet to try the kebaps or seasoned meats yet, hopefully "newbiefood" will give us a report.
