Honeymoon in Kennebunkport

  • 7

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here so I apologize if this question has already been addressed. My future wife and I will be honeymooning in Kennebunkport for 2 days this upcoming September. I was wondering if you could possibly recommend some restaurants. Since we're driving from VT, I was thinking that the first day would be all casual dining, and we can enjoy a romantic dinner on Tuesday (unfortunately cannot afford the White Barn INN!)

Day 1
Lunch - Looking for a very casual lunch spot that offers great lobster rolls with minimal lettuce! Are there any places that offer a great view and serve beers as well? Possibly Cape Porpoise for this @ the Ramp?

Dinner - looking for another casual/seafood spot right in town. Allison's?

Day 2
Lunch - Nunan's or Mabel's?

Dinner - romantic/seafood/great view...thoughts on Cape Arundel Inn, or Pier 77?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike

  1. I highly recommend On the Marsh for the romantic dinner on Day 2. Very nice, quite ambiance and wonderful food. Mabel's lobster roll is consistently good....I don't think Nunan's is open for lunch. Allison's lobster roll is also quite good.

    1. Hurricane is a must! Day 2. Very good and beautiful view and atmosphere.

      1. the Ramp is a great place, however not sure they have lobster rolls. Hurricane has nice water views, serves lunch and has lobster rolls.

        1. We spent our 25th anniversary celebration in Kport last year. We are seafood lovers and were very impressed with Cape Arundel Inn, as well as Stripers.

I would recommend Alisson's for lunch. It is a casual place you are looking for, Its right in down town. The food is good and the prices are very good considering the area. I will send you the web site and you can look it over. My wife and I usually go there at least one day for lunch when ever we are in Maine. (http://www.alissons.com/) Give it a look, I don't think you will be sorry.... Good luck on your trip and Marriage. Earle

We went to Alisson's for lunch last week (on Monday), because there was nothing else open and we were really pleasantly surprised at the how good the food was. I had a cup of chowder and 1/2 lobster roll. The chowder was the best I've had in a long-g-g time. Full of clam pieces - actually more clam pieces than potato (now that's a first!) and what they call 1/2 lobster roll was actually a split top hot dog roll stuffed with big beautiful pieces of lobster. I've read on Chowhound about some other places in Kennebunkport that weren't open on Monday that everyone loves, but I thought this place was quite good.

          2. Congratulations,

Although south of Kennebunkport, I do like Joshua's in Wells a lot. The haddock with a wild rissotto is always a must. The family farm veggies are wonderful, and yes I find the renovated house to be a bit romantic.
