Spring findings at the Union Square Farmers Market

Due to an insane schedule I have not been to the beloved union sq green market in far too long!!

I am hoping to go this week at some point. I am hoping I will find a good amount of springish items.

What spring produce has shown up recently?

Are there fresh peas? Pea sprouts? What fruits?

Would love to know what to expect or what has been esp. good thus far this season!

Haven't seen fresh peas yet. There were ramps last wednesday, but none today. Green garlic today. Not much in the fruit category yet, either. Apples.

Greens are beginning, though, and lovely flowers.

I went on Saturday, and if you can imagine being on the 6 train at rush hour, with vegetables, that's what it was like. Sadly, the fish guys were completely cleaned out by the time I got there, but I did score some ramps and broccoli rabe. There were pea shoots, for I think $12/quarter pound, which is NUTS. Also saw mustard greens and various sprouts, and plenty of root vegetables. And people. Lots and lots of people. Oh, and everyone and her mom is selling eggs, all of a sudden.

I often check here for info:
