Mother's Day in Lansing, MI
I'm looking for some options for Mother's Day lunch in Lansing or within an hour's drive, not an omelet/waffle/prime rib brunch. Mom's 80, but a very adventurous eater whenever she visits me in Philadelphia, so ethic food of any kind is fine. Cloth napkins would be nice, but really well prepared food is my top priority.

The English Inn in Eaton Rapids is a beautiful setting and the drive from Lansing isn't bad. Don't forget about the State Room at the Kellogg Center on MSU campus. Food is quite good and the campus will be in full bloom. Beautiful horticultural gardens; MSU Dairy Store for ice cream and a variety of cheeses to take home.

We went to Beggar's Banquet in East Lansing for mother's day one year. It was nice and relaxed, the food was fine, but not outstanding.
As a poster mentioned above, Common Grill is excellent. It gets a little noisy though and is packed on mother's day. It's about an hour if you go 127 to 94, or go the back roads.

That's a tough one. Most of the nicer places do the brunch you're not looking for.
The one place that still comes to mind is the River House Inn in Williamston. They don't have a website, but there's a menu and review on my website.

There's also the Wrought Iron Grill in Owosso. I haven't eaten there, but I hear it's good.
English Inn in Eaton Rapids is another one...again, I haven't eaten there yet, but I have heard good things

30 minutes at worst. I was born in Owosso and spent a lot of my life at my grandparents place there. My impression of the city till this day is that they are 5-10 year behind all other small towns and maybe one of the scariest food cities I know.
I have not been to this specific place but if it is good it would be a quantum leap in food quality.
