Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

Large Group (55 people) Private Room

Hi ChowHounders,

I was hoping you might have restaurant suggestions that meet the following requirements:

- Can accommodate ~55 people in a private room, ideally separated from the main restaurant. Seated at large rounds.
- Nice cuisine. This is an annual event, and in the past we have held it at both Tabla and 11 Madison, so something in that quality range.
- Below 34th st. Nothing in midtown or north of there.

Thoughts? This is technically a corporate event, but I'm looking for something a little bit funkier than your typical rubber chicken dinner or steakhouse. We had a great experience at Tabla, but we're looking to not repeat venues.

    1. Perhaps, ilili? It's the Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant, on 5th Av., b/t 27th & 28th Sts. We had dinner there once, and while I wouldn't put the food on the level of EMP and Tabla, I thought it was well-prepared and delicious. The enormous space has very interesting decor and a number of rooms. Their website indicates they do private events.
