Bob:

You can hop on the DASH F Line for 25 cents and head up to The Pantry, which is open 24 hrs. It's at 8th and Figueroa. You can try staying on and finding your way to Filipe The Original for a great Beef Dip, walk over to China Town for a great meal, Olivera Street is right around the corner from there as well. If you're really feeling brave, try one of the "roach coaches" or the catering trucks that are on alot of corners late at night, just watch your self. One of your neighbor schools is LA Trade Tech College, and they have a chef training program, which serves limited and low cost meals to the public Mon - Fri during some of the summer. It's at Washington and Grand on the South East Corner, go check it out!!

If I'm not mistaken, USC offers its students ROOM SERVICE. Their food services team has won awards for being top notch, are you sure you've checked out all of the options on campus??

Great advice. And don't miss the restaurants at Mercado la Paloma, where you can get yummy Yucatanean at Chichen Izta or Oaxacan ice cream at the juice stand. You can walk there from USC, or take the campus shuttle to the parking center.

Wow! I just took a look at the Chichen Izta menu, and the food appears to be quite a bargain. Any specific recommendations?

I really like the cochinita pibil plate & the citrus jicima salad. Since I'm not a big rice or beans person, they will substitute the salad for the r & b. Other people have recommended the kibbe, which is a Yucatanean version of a Lebanese dish.
Also check out Tacos Vista Hermosa.
For all places, you order at the counter & then take a seat in the airy market & they bring the order to you.
Hope you enjoy!
