And she did quite well. Thank goodness Paula used her normal speaking voice, instead of the over-the-top twang that she has developed over the past few years.

I thought it was interesting that Michael was doing Nutrisystem. The man must have an iron will to eat vacuum packed food with all the deep fried goodies and baked goods. I did find the whole segment to be funny. :-)

Ha, I happened to be listening to the show when I opened your post, grey. I just love that show. Paula was quite fun on the show...she's good when she's herself and not trying too hard to be outrageous. The cast, as always, was incredibly witty and amusing.

Over the last few years I was always bothered when attempts were made to cut funding for NPR. Now if they’re giving air time to Paula Deen I’m thinking that these cuts aren’t so bad.

Apparently you are not familiar with this program's format. It's a humorous quiz and current events program. One segment each week involves a call to a celebrity, who is then given 3 multiple-choice trivia questions about a topic outside his/her area of expertise. This calls for a good deal of self-deprecating on the part of the celebrity. For example - I'm making this up - if Russell Crowe was on they might ask trivia about crows. In Paula's case, it was tofu.

And it can be a very, very funny show.

I thought she did a great job. She acknowledges her T.V. persona and stands up to friendly ridicule quire well. In reference to her new furniture line she was asked, "how do you deep fry an ottoman?" and she came right back with, "It's easy honey you just dip it in egg first."
I agree with you, amethiste, poor Michael has a tough row to hoe with his weight loss plan.

It was a hoot. Unlike a lot of folks on this site, I kind of like Paula. She is what she is, and seems to be a truly happy person. Which goes a long way with me. And the idea of having her answer questions about tofu was just hysterical.

I like her joie de vivre, too. She was a good sport. I just wish it had been a show that included Roy Blount, Jr. and Paula Poundstone. Those episodes seem to have the best repartee.

I downloaded Paula Poundstone's "I Heart Jokes" album on iTunes this week; she's great.

That would have been a good mix, since Roy has always been extremely good at writing about Southern food.
