Avocado Festival - Fallbrook
Anyone been to the Avocoado Festival in Fallbrook? thinking about heading up this afternoon (04/18). Just wondering if there is good food to be had, or should I head to Las Brisas, which has been on the short list for some time.
I went several years ago and had a great time. There were numerous vendors, samples, etc. They even had avocado ice cream! I didn't get to try it because they ran out :( Have fun!
Its super fun stevuchan. The first time I went to Las Brisas was actually because I didnt think the festival food offered looked all that interesting. Thank God I did - I knew I found a gem.
You should try the tempura avocado though - its expensive but kind of outrageously good like deep fried ice cream. They had an 'itamae' from Japan with a signature avocado - hamachi sushi recipe make a ton of free samples - the were good.
If the Corn Maiden Co is there with their tamales - try them out I was pretty impressed a few years back.
Regardless you should go to Las Brisas and rub shoulders with the Sunday morning agricultural breakfasters.
Dishes Reccomended in order:
2. Carnitas (a must and my favorite in SD)
3. Chorizo con Huevo (best version I have ever had)
4. Barbacoa de Res (weekend only)
5, Costillas Rancheras
Provecho and have fun - fallbrook is my favorite corner of SD
