Brunch in San Mateo or Burlingame

  • 3

Hi everyone. My family will be taking my grandmother out for a birthday brunch this Sunday, but I have no clue as what would be a nice place. Been living in the city for a while, and I'm out of the loop as to what's good in the San Mateo/Burlingame area. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Looking for little restaurants, although we might do a brunch buffet too if it comes down to it. Thanks in advance!

  1. Don't know if you have a place planned yet, but here's some San Mateo places that serve brunch.

If you replace "San Mateo" with Burlingame there will be a few places in that city.

    1. Gator's serves a decent brunch in a nice environment. They usually have a jazz band playing as well.

If you're looking for a hearty Southern brunch with great value, the Sunday buffet at Piccadilly Catering (Foster City) may be for you! $25 gets you all-you-can-eat fried chicken, ribs, beans and rice, etc along with drinks. The atmosphere is severely lacking (essentially a small storefront with some makeshift tables and lawn chairs) but the service and food are solid (although it's been a long time since I've gone).

      1. I hope this isn't too late, but you could try Viognier, just above Draeger's on 4th Ave. in San Mateo. The place is pleasant, and unless they've changed things radically in the past few months, the quality has been consistently good, the ambience and service very pleasant, and there is easy parking and elevator access.
