drinks in Yonge/Mt Pleasant & Eg area

other than pubs, are there any places to go for drinks in the area from around yonge&eglinton to mt pleasant & eglinton, give or take a few blocks north and south? i haven't been in the area much the past year, but have always recalled that after dinner options to just chat and have some drinks seemed limited.

i can think of spacco/alleycatz, centro and a few pubs, but not really wanting to go to a pub. most restaurants probably close before midnight i think. are there any other possibilities i may have missed?

The neighbourhood is definitely challenged from that perspective. Even at Centro, you're limited to the nights they decide to open the bar downstairs.

The new Keg on Yonge south of Eg has a large bar area, not sure about their hours, but it's trying very very hard to be a happenin' place, and is full of people who don't tuck their shirts in.

You might have to go as far north as the Miller, or as far south as Le Petit Castor (which is apparently rivalling Chick'n'deli as a cougar lair).

Ended up trying a strawberry mojito (not bad, but not as delish as trapezzi's raspberry mojito) and the mac and cheese at the infamous Petit Castor tonight. The mac & cheese was much, much better than I anticipated. The chocolate caramel tart sprinkled with sea salt was great.

LPC certainly draws out the 30/40/50 chichi crowd. Not what I would consider a cougar lair (there were plenty of middle-aged women, but very few if any men under 30), but definitely a meat market. Felt like we were appraised by every pair of eyes in the joint as we walked past the bar, to the tables at the back. Pretty much everyone at LPC was over 33 (both men and women), and I'd guess the median age was close to 42 on this past Saturday night. NTTAWWT.

It closes at midnight (I thought of it too and then checked the hours).

Coquine's kitchen closes at midnight, but the bar area at the front goes until last call.

that's good to know, it does seem like coquine might be the only good option...

Yes, it's best to go to Coquine *after* the kitchen closes.

I agree the kitchen is closed at 12pm but it goes strong till way aftrer. I was actually there last night until 1am and the place was still packed. However I must warn... not sure what kind of crowd you are into..thursday nights are what I call meat market night ( I'm skipping thurs from now on) it was a little much yesterday with all the drunk cougars..but to each their own.
