California/Thai, Beacon Hill Calgary

AriaDream Apr 17, 2009 07:45 AM

Hey all! Just thought I'd let you all know... I've tried out the California/Thai fusion place in Beacon Hill 3 times so far and I think it's nice. I liked the pad thai a lot, and the mango salad was great. I also had a chicken dish that was more chinese than Thai in my opinion, but that was good too. There's a lot of room inside if you want to eat in, but they're quick if you want take out. Just my two cents.

Good to know the mango salad is good too. I started a post a while ago on the pad thai which is good for a fast food place but actually better than some I've had in more expensive places. It seemed the last time my serving was a bit smaller but still good value.

Others have said the chinese food isn't as good as the pad thai but I've never gotten past the pad thai so don't know. The food places in Beacon Hill seem to be so quiet that I hope they can survive till the area is finished.

When I went there it seemed to be getting busier. I hope they survive too, they're all quite nice.

We were there today for lunch and my Pad Thai was noticeably smaller. The servings, I thought, were too large anyway. Good to know about the mango salad, I intend to try it soon.

I want to add, I tried the golden curry. At first I didn't like it, but it gradually grew on me... it definitely had a bit of bite to it but was quite tasty. The problem I had was the tofu. I've never had tofu in curry before. It was worth trying but I think I'll stick to the stuff I like better.
