Galatoire's during Jazz Fest?

I will be arriving on Friday about noon for the first weekend of jazz fest, leaving again Tuesday morning (not long enough!). I am bringing a friend who has never been to NO before, and I want to pack in as much experience as possible. As I don't imagine we will be eating out much over the weekend because of all of the fabulous food at the fest, that leaves Friday afternoon and Monday. Any idea if we arrived at Galatoire's at say, 3pm on Friday, could we get in fairly soon? I don't want to spend the first day standing in line but also consider that a must-do dining experience for a NO newbie. I'm hoping we can do that as a late lunch and then also find a nice spot for a light dinner, like say oysters and some crawfish at Acme. Sorry if it seems like an old topic, but I don't have any idea what it will be like there during the fest....

Also, this friend really wants to try turtle soup, and comment on where to get the best?

Thanks!

  1. You shouldn't have much of a wait at 3:00 p.m. But most of the "Friday lunch" crowd got there around 11 so it will already be in full swing and will already be very loud...and fun I'm sure.

    For turtle soup...Commanders.

I went for lunch on Friday of Jazz Fest just last year -- if that's any indication, by 3 p.m. the crowd will likely have thinned out. (Perhaps we're saying the same thing.)
