Applebees Sliders Suck

This evening I was taken to Aplebees for a short after work meeting. Drinks were served, and tyhe nhost had ordered cheeseburger sliders for everyone, as finger food would work with the meeting.

The burgers were supposed to have cheese, onions and the Applebees signature sauce.

Two had cheese, two had onions, only one had cheese, sauce and onions.

Absolutely, dry and inedible...................

The host complained to the manager and was told that they were made to specs.

Somehow I don't think the corporate specs called for dried out lumps that have whatever condiments the cook feels like puttting on them.

The host told the manager that he could keep the food and drink and we all (6) goit up and walked out. The host did stop and give the waitress a twenty, telling her it wasn't her fault the food was garbage and the manager an idiot.

If this is the best Applebees can do, I won't be back. New ownership from the IHOP gang doesn't seem to be helping.

  1. It's all true . . . but try Denny's sliders, they're even worse.

I cannot believe you're surprised!! Applebee's is one of the worst restaurant chains in North America!

I've never eaten "FOOD" at Applebee's before. I have been to the bar, and while the beer is overpriced, they do provide really good fresh hot nacho chips with cheese and salsa at no charge........................

Did you catch King of the Hill on Sunday night. The show ended with this exchange:

            "Where is that kid from?"

            "Applebee Street"

            "Applebee sucks."

It most definitely sounded like "Applebee's sucks."

        1. I'm fairly tolerant of any restaurant, especially when I'm travelling and busy. On a recent trip with coworkers the closest option was Applebee's. I went along with the group but when we were being seated and saw the menu I had to bail. We walked a little further to Chevy's -- not a place I'd visit by choice but it was way more palatable than the Applebee's options.

          1. You could have just titled your post "Applebees Suck"

IHOP ownership? That's like the owners of the KC Royals taking over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

            1. As a guest, it is not my place to call corporate and complain. That is the perogative of the host. I was not out any money for a bad meal.

I also don't understand how you got a juicy burger when they say they will only cook to a minimum of medium-well. I prefer my burgers rare. It's very interesting that Applebee's will make the chop steak dinner rare (it's only a bigger burger) but not burgers that come on a bun. The manager could not explain that stupidity to my satisfaction.

I won't be giving them another chance..................

I am not exactly a fan of Applebee's myself but in my area Applebee's will cook any steak or burger to the desired doneness. My best friend orders her burgers rare every time we go there and that is what she receives.

she's brave! the yahoos at Applebees would be last people I'd trust to serve me up a rare burger...

              2. I've never had anything decent to eat there, and I have to eat there several times a year because my friends like eating there. I just don't get it. Never one decent meal.

                1. Applebees just plain sucks...not just the sliders

                  1. Their all you can eat shrimp and chicken strips they had last year was DELISH! It is what it is people.............a CHAIN....not an expensive restaurant. Glad I live in this neck of the woods, because it seems like most everyone on here has terribly unpleasant experiences at fast food restaurants!!!!!!!

I have posted on other threads about their all you can eat scam. I'd have to sit there for ten hours to get all I could eat.

When I tried the all you could eat riblets years ago -- before I realized how godawful Applebees was, even by chain standards -- the wait between plates got longer and longer and the servings smaller and smaller. After the third -- puny -- plate I gave up.

Heres a clue.............tell them how you feel about the long wait between plates..........and ask for 2-3 servings at a time............again....I am guessing you love in a larger city when customer service is out the door..................

This was years ago, before I realized how bad Applebees was. It was right after Applebees came into this market. And like many chains, their food looked great on tv, and even on the menu. Now you could give me a trough of riblets and I wouldn't go back for it. But yes, I'm in the DC area.

The only time we go now is when our kids demand it -- there's one right near their preschool. So I just suck it up. But otherwise Applebees is "off the list," as my family says.

Why waste hard earned dollars, I'd fast instead of going to AB's

                      2. Never been to Applebee's...and not likely ever to go. If I was *taken* to one, I'm not sure I'd even admit it. =P

                        1. I had really good ones at TGFriday's that had chimchurri sauce on them. Haven't seen them on the menu since!
