Cincy Flower Show

  • 2

My sister and I are coming up to spend a couple of nights and go to the Cincinnati Flower Show.
Need a couple of nights of good food. Would rather not have chains. Have eaten several meals in downtown but wondered if there was anything close to Mason. We are staying at Hyatt Place. Can drive if need to. A couple of real Chowhounds...

  1. Don’t know if it will coincide with your visit, but the flower show features a “Fine Food Show” the weekend of April 18-19. Haven’t seen much about it this year, but last year they had a number of cooking demos/tastings by local chefs in addition to the vendors’ booths (don’t miss Herbs & Spice & Everything Nice, a local Findlay Market purveyor of excellent and hard-to-find herbs, spice blends, and salts).

Not limited to that weekend will be dining options at the flower show that include two well regarded local independent restaurants, Daveed’s and Slim’s.

I’m afraid I don’t know much about Mason restaurants, but if you’re willing to drive, I can recommend Nectar, an independent restaurant with a seasonal menu that uses lots of local produce and meats. It’s in Mt. Lookout.

    1. I really like The Works, in Loveland, which is in the old City of Loveland water works building. They have pizza, burgers, pub fare and a full bar and are open late. There is an outdoor patio with a chiminea which is probably going at that time of year. Also in Loveland is the Buzz-thru Espresso bar for good coffee and really friendly staff. Right across the alley from that is a vegetarian place called VegHead. I'm listing all of these Loveland places because the flower show is at the old Rozzi Fireworks fields this year in Loveland.
