I'd love to get some current thoughts on the restaurants listed in shabbystorm's excellent Oak Tree Road post. The Iselin - Edison - North Brunswick corridor is the epicenter of Jersey's best Indian food. So far, my Oak Tree Road favorite is Rasoi II. My favorite Jersey Indian is Abhiruchi in North Brunswick. Which places are your current favorites?

I absolutely love India Palace, the small buffet farther up Oak Tree Road. I've been going there regularly for the last 2+ years, and it is my favourite. I also like Chowpatty and Bombay Talk. It all depends on what you're in the mood for. I'm an edison native and a vegetarian, so I spend a lot of time in Little India. The dosa at Bombay Talk is great, and the Paneer Masala and Dal Makhani at the buffet at India Palace are both worth trying.

Edit to Add: Bombay Talk and Chowpatty are both fast food style restaurants. If you want more civilized dining Moghul, Rasoi or Chowpatty are the places to go

Shalimar Restaurant was destroyed by fire today, August 31.

Desi Galaxy food court was destroyed by fire over the summer. It was closed during Ramadan and I remember thinking at the time that they were just remodeling. I often stop in for take-away next door at Ali Babba.

It appears Moksha Restaurant on Oak Tree Road has closed.
A New Italian restaurant looks to be opening in the space.

Impressive list - thanks for the effort. The only thing missing is a list of the movies currently playing!

We did a $6, all-you-can-eat lunch buffet at India Palace (the place looks like it was formerly a Dairy Queen). We felt like complete interlopers at 2pm, but the food was tasty, the naan was hot, and I was hungry. All-in-all a worthwile use of $6, but the next time we cross the Driscoll I'd like to try someplace else. (I'll have to keep your list in the glove compartment!)

This is the place to go for Haleem. It is the best I have outside of Lahore, go here for the real deal. Also, if you ask them to make Karahi Gosht, it is not one of the items they will have ready, it is a special, this is another great one just like in Lahore. You will not be disappointed. Have both with the fresh naan.

I would gladly vouch for the sweet shop, Ladoo is my favorite and this shop makes a wonderfully delicious selection of ladoo pastries. Last time I shopped, 12 ladoo for $10.
