Wedding Night Dinner in Seattle (?)

Please, if you can help that would be great.

First of all, we are in search of the best food primarily, along with a romantic atmosphere. I have researched many of Seattle's better restaurants and plan to spend on our special night at what I think will be the best.

That said, it seems to be between the special occasion places of either Canlis or The Georgian. If you had to choose, which would it be and why?

We felt like a tasting menu would not be ideal on this night but other places are/were considered, including: Rovers, Crush, Lampreia, Herbfarm, etc. Obviously, we're going for a Northwest or somewhat classical basis, all but ruling out strict Italian for this one night. Feel free to express alternate ideas.

Please provide feedback if you can, but please hurry. We have just over two weeks to make our reservations!

Thanks in advance.

  1. I recently had a fabulous meal at Canlis. I've been many times before but the food this time was much better than any of my past visits. The dining room is totally my thing - sort of Northwest Asian. I've never liked the feel of the Georgian Room. It's too brightly lit for romance.

Of your choices, I would pick Canlis. It has a lovely view and astmosphere, the food is excellent and will be a really special nite. Food-wise Rovers would be a close second, but I think Canlis is more romantic. I haven't been to the HerbFarm since Traunfield left, so I don't know how it is right now. The other restaurants are all great, but for what you described, you are on track with Canlis. Somewhere (on this board??) I read about a specific table to request for a special occasion. Anyone know?

    2. Canlis has a private room for 2 (seats 4 max). If I recall correctly, it's called the Penthouse. You'll have a waiter that tends to you, while you have an unobstructed view to the lake below in a private setting.

I love both options, I don't think you can go wrong.

      1. The private room at Canlis (called The Cache) would be a wonderful, unique experience. But if you can't get it (or don't want to pay the $150 surcharge), tell Rovers in advance that it's your wedding night and I'm sure they'll make you feel special.

We just had a wonderful dinner at Canlis on 4/16. The ambience is beautiful and romantic. Order anything and it will be well prepared and carefully presented but be sure to order the Grand Marnier Souffle at the beginning of your meal. It may just be the most perfect souffle I've ever had, and that includes places in Paris. It's light and oh so delicious. Oysters were fabulous and the Twice Baked Potato a must.
          Best Wishes to you!!
