I don't know if they operate elsewhere but I think they are LONG gone from the L.A. area. It's a place I actually miss Not sure why they folded because every time I was there they seemed to be doing a brisk business.

Fuddruckers was similar but IMO not nearly as good as Flakey Jake's. They lasted longer but I believe they have also faded away.

Got Fudd? I like Fudd but I do miss FJ's. Fudd has some good North/Eastern style onion rings, the way they were once made in L.A.

      See L.A. locations

man...i havent heard "Flakey Jakes" in years. I remember the one on Pico and Sepulveda from back in the day. That place has to have closed down close to 20 years ago.

Maybe you're thinking of Fudrucker's? Because that location (NW corner of Pico & Sepulveda) was at one time a Fudrucker's and prior to that (going back 25 years) it was the Scotch & Sirloin. I guess it's possible that when it transitioned from the Scotch & Sirloin to Fudrucker's it was briefly a Flakey Jake's? But I don't remember that at all.

Was definitely a Flakey Jake's in that location (late 80's early 90's). Went there on many occasions for the build-your-own-burger.

No, the NW of Pico & Sepulveda (and if you are old enough, sing the song!) was Flakey Jake's.
But the last two open units were in Orange County and they both closed over 5 years ago.

Man, this brings back memories. I used to work at Hughes Market on Sawtelle and National, I would go over to Flakey Jakes on lunch a few times a month! Loved it. I loved the bread on the burger too.

Folks, we're locking this post now that we've established Flakey Jake's is no longer around. We've started down memory lane and while nostalgia threads are fun, they don't help anyone eat better now.

We appreciate everyone's input and this thread will be helpful to future searches asking about Flaky Jake's.
