Shot in the dark, trying to recall name of Rosemont/O'Hare area restaurant in industrial or office park

  • f

Some years ago now a friend and I had apps at a bar that had a steakhouse sort of feeling, if I recall correctly. Dark polished wood, maybe leather booths. We were waiting for another friend's plane to get in so it was probably w/in 15 minutes of O'hare. I think that it had an odd outside appearance, not restaurant-like, but the bar inside was very nice and comfortable. We seem to think that it was either in an office or industrial park. Does this ring any bells? It may also have been a banquet facility, not sure.

My friend is trying to duplicate a dish we had there and wants to find the menu to see if they still serve it but neither one of us can remember the name or location. Sorry for the vague info, just thought I'd try in case the office or industrial park location is enough to get something.

Thanks!

  1. It was Rosewood Restaurant I would bet.
Looks like an old sh!tty banquet hall.

Sounds more like Rosewood than Carlucci.

      2. Was it Magnum's? They have several locations, one close to the airport.

        1. If not Rosewood, perhaps Cafe la Cave, Giannotti's or Gibson's (doubtful but they are largely steakhouses). What's the dish . . . that might help. There has not been a Magnum's near O'Hare.

I doubt that it's Gibson's. Their Rosemont location is in one of the big hotels on that strip with the convention center, hard to mistake for an industrial or office park area.

Hmmm. . . are you saying that Rosewood is in an office or industrial park?

In any event, I was just trying to be helpful and come up with possibilities.

          2. My god, you guys are amazing. How did you do that? Thank you for your help.

The appetizer was basically just chilled crab meat mounded in the center with avocado and some mayo on the plate. There's a bit more to it but neither of us remembers well enough. I know that doesn't sound like much but she has a reason for wanting to reconstruct that very dish.

Really, I'm so grateful to you all. Rosewood sounds like a strong possibility. I'll pass the info along. Thank you all so much!

              It's on this menu: http://www.magnumsprimesteakhouse.com...

They used to have a location only an exit or so away from O'Hare (towards the City). I don't believe it's there anymore, but there are other locations.

Oh, thank you! That sure sounds like the dish. I will pass this along to my friend, too. She wants to call the restaurant but neither of us had any idea where to begin. You have all been SO helpful, she will be thrilled.
