A friend of mine is a concierge in downtown Tampa and he recommended Sumo's Thai Cafe 301 E Twiggs St. and Paninoteca Mediterranean Cafe 519 N. Franklin St. He said they are both really good . I am terrible wih maps but I think Paninoteca seems further away, but check them out on line . Enjoy your stay. Juli

I had forgotten about Paninoteca, which has very good Mediterranean food and appetizers. Across the street is Bamboozle, which has a fantastic take on Vietnamese food. Both are terrific, but a bit casual if this is a more formal business lunch. If not, they're both great. Taps Wine and Beer at Skypoint could also be nice if you're looking for a large selection of beer/wine at lunch. I'm not sure Fly is open for lunch anymore, but I could be wrong.

If it's more formal, I would go to Malio's, which is a couple of blocks further away at the Sykes building. If you don't mind a quick drive (~3 minutes), you might also consider driving to Ybor City where there are a number of terrific options for a fairly upscale lunch (plus free 2-hour parking on the streets now). My current favorite is The Nest, and Laughing Cat, Teatro's, Carmine's, and L'Olivier are also fantastic.

You can find menus and hours to all of these places in the Tampa section of www.menusearch.net

Are you looking to take a client to lunch? There really isn't much right around the courthouse. Lots closer to the Fed. Bldg. I think your best bet is Fly. Its a little walk, but probably the best/closest. Other than that there is Malios (I hear its pricey but good).
That's all I can think of, off hand, but I'm sure I'm forgetting something obvious. There are lots of little quickie lunch joints around. If you want to drive a short distance there are a lot more options.

P.S. - If you are driving, I find it is easiest to park in the pay lot just behind the Edgecomb Courthouse. Its worth the $5 for ease and convenience... if you ask me.
