Montreal bday dinner with "conservative eating" friends

Advice on place for a memorable belated Bday dinner for 2 couples on a pending weekend trip to Montreal, taking into account that one couple is "more adventurous" than the other. One couple has gone to Bronte, Garcon, Chasse et Peche, Rosalie, Napolean, Il Mulino, whereas the other tends to Italian or Queue de Cheval or Moishe's (re: steak or chicken).
Joe Beef was on my mind but given that the menu changes and written on chalkboard daily, not quite sure. Also, Ferreira was under consideration. Advice would be most welcome, re: great place where more adventurous and more conservative can eat, drink and be merry.

Even though the menu changes daily, Joe Beef will always have some variety of chicken, steak or fish on the menu that will satisfy conservative appetites. You might want to try Liverpool as well.

You said you're looking for something memorable, I would say la Chronique or le Garde Manger. Ferreira is excellent although mostly fish. I haven't been to La Montée yet.
