If the subject is supposed to be about growing food and not general gardening and encompasses raising chickens and beekeeping, then why not call it that, e.g., Home Grown Food or something similar. We know that very few posters read the welcome message, thus the title of the board needs to give better direction.

But I take it growing hops or grain or grapes for any of those items would be handled on the new board exclusively?

As with many issues on this site, we don't promise black and white boundaries. If someone who is a home brewer wants advice on what hops to grow and posts that question on the Beer board, we'd probably leave it there, as a question of what hops to grow is really best answered by people with expertise in that narrow area. If he/she posted it on the Gardening board, we'd probably leave it there, figuring the poster is more concerned with how to grow the hops.
